Health & Safety Audits
Audits are an essential component of any safety management system. Without them management may have only a sketchy idea of their company’s performance and, more importantly, of the risks to their employees’health and safety.
Audits may be of an annual nature, reporting on overall company management, or more frequent project-specific audits designed to check on local performance.
A comprehensive audit examines and reports on the complete range of company activities which have a bearing on health and safety. The auditor will start with the existing company Policy:- is it up-to-date, is it comprehensive in its approach and accurate in depicting the company's activities. He will then begin to examine the company’s complete health and safety management system through its written records. From these the auditor will look at employee inductions and their content, employee training – is it appropriate and sufficient, machinery and equipment inspections and maintenance, risk assessments – are they comprehensive, with an element of site or job specificity, emergency systems, consultation and current accident rates and reporting.
From the information obtained, the auditor will produce a report for management. This should be read, discussed, and its recommendations fed back into the company’s management system for further action.
Whatever your type of business, it will benefit from the cost-effective health and safety audits produced by Fox~Robinson practitioners. For the smaller site-based audits, reports can often be produced and e-mailed to you within twenty four hours
