Legislative Compliance

Factory production line

Industry and commerce in the United Kingdom function under a significant legislative burden. Designed to assure standardisation and control in our large and complex society, legislation comprises a huge raft of enabling Acts of Parliament and their daughter Regulations. They are far too great in number for any one person or small group to maintain full awareness. Specialists in certain fields of legislation need to be called upon.

At Fox~Robinson, we are specialists in the fields of health and safety, and in building regulation and associated matters.

Health and Safety is largely framed in terms of employment regulation, and is a large field in itself. Originating with the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974, H&S legislation was significantly developed with the introduction of the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations.

More specialised industry and hazard-specific legislation has followed. Typical of the more common legislation requiring compliance for most organisations are the following:-

  • Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999
  • Workplace (Health Safety and Welfare Regulations) 1992
  • Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 (as amended)
  • Work at Height Regulations 2005
  • Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005
  • Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations 1992
  • Health and Safety (Consultation with Employees) Regulations 1996
  • Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998
  • Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992
  • Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005
  • Personal Protective Equipment Regulations 2002
  • Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998
  • Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1995

Fox~Robinson practitioners can audit your organisation’s existing management system to produce a report on your current degree of legislative compliance applicable to your type of organisation. We can then help you get the required systems into place to bring you into full compliance.
